One of the goals of the Turku pilot is to reduce loneliness and exclusion. They have a vast impact on the experience of inclusion and participating.

To beat loneliness and exclusion Turku pilot has teamed up with other organizations and projects. City of Turku, Parish of Turku and Kaarina and NGO Tukenasi ry coordinates together campaign called Tykkää turkulaisesta! (Like Us in Turku) that aims to reduce loneliness. 

“Chronicles C-19”: the new AR space to share experience from pandemic

The City of Poznan developed a new mobile application, which was created to give citizens a space to share their stories related to COVID-19 pandemic experience. The whole pilot of Poznan was dedicated to assess the changing situation, help health professionals on the first front in the fight with the disease and evaluate the cross-sectoral cooperation during lock-down.

Tartu tested a new concept of universal sportsground information board

Tartu started developing accessible sportsground information board on autumn 2020. New concept of information board allows citizens with or without any sports awareness learn how to work out independently on training spot. Sports information boards will be freely accessible to everyone, as the boards will be established at public outdoor gyms.

Digital experience on cross-sectoral cooperation and participation for Turku city employees

The focus of the Turku pilot is communication. The aim is to find ways to communicate about health and wellbeing services, and that way help city residents to make choices that support their health and wellbeing. Also, our goal is to encourage city residents to participate in the decision-making. To reach a sustainable result, Turku has approached these challenges from different angles. Turku targeted residents directly and worked with city employees and NGOs providing services for them. The game developed within the Healthy Boost project supports the latter approach.

Jelgava municipality visited Tartu to share ideas about healthy school catering. Discussions about school catering procurement as well as ecological food in schools and kindergartens were highlighted with tasting the food in Maarjamõisa kindergarten, checking out the hens and learning about food waste in Lotte kindergarten.

Model for cross-sectoral cooperation is being finalized

The Model for cross-sectoral cooperation is designed and developed to provide an overview of key cross-sectoral cooperation elements that are a paramount prerequisite for modern health promotion.

The Model was developed by researchers of Riga Stradins University based on a systematic review and analysis of the scientific literature, and the results of a self-assessment of cross-sectoral collaboration for health promotion conducted by professionals and experts in the Healthy Boost project partner cities.

Klaipėda City Public Health Bureau as a partner of the Healthy Boost project, implemented pilot project aiming to broaden the sustainable mobility activities. One of the objectives was to demonstrate cycling routs of Klaipėda city using virtual reality (VR) tools.

Jelgava Local Municipality has finished its pilot activities within Healthy Boost project

Pilot activities included cooperation with nutritionist who evaluated existing recipes in two pilot schools and proposed new menus for 5 days in each season – autumn, winter, spring. Nutritionist was also involved in giving lectures regarding healthy eating habits and masterclasses for school chefs and pupils of the grade 1 to 4. Only autumn season activities were possible to organize in schools, winter and spring season pupils studied remotely and also cooking took place in their own kitchens together with parents.

Outdoor gyms invite you to exercise through a new app in Tartu

The smartphone app shows outdoor gym locations and their exercise equipment in Tartu and also offers video tips on how to exercise using the most popular equipment.

This new smartphone app has been developed as part of the Healthy Boost cooperation project, one of whose aims is to apply virtual reality and augmented reality for the promotion of healthy activities. The app uses augmented reality to offer a truly fresh user experience.

As a part of our Healthy Boost pilot project, we tested some augmented reality (AR) tools as a part of marketing of the City's participatory budgeting OmaStadi. The webAR-based 3D model of the Puotilankenttä playing field in the Eastern part of the City illustrates the improvements voted to the execution by the city residents.
