Jelgava municipality visited Tartu

Jelgava municipality visited Tartu to share ideas about healthy school catering. Discussions about school catering procurement as well as ecological food in schools and kindergartens were highlighted with tasting the food in Maarjamõisa kindergarten, checking out the hens and learning about food waste in Lotte kindergarten.

The day ended with a visit to city ecological garden Tartu Maheaed where all citizens can rent their own spot for a small prize and learn how to grow their own ecological food. Second day was followed by presentations from Ülle Prommik (responsible for healthy eating and ecological food product use in school/kindergarten catering procurement) and Elen Peetsmann (head of Research Centre of Organic Farming of Estonian University of Life Sciences).

What a nice opportunity to meet face to face and have fruitful discussions!
